A family resort 3 km away, snowshoeing from the hamlet, ski touring in the valleys — and the wood stove on your return.
In winter, the Valdeblore plateau changes pace. 3 km from the house, the La Colmiane resort — the closest to Nice — unrolls family skiing: runs through the larches, a beginners' area, sledging for the kids. You're there in five minutes, home for lunch if you like, and no one queues for the bathroom on the way back.
Around the hamlet, the snow opens another playground: snowshoeing. The plateau's valleys, forests and clearings are walked straight from the house, in the silence of the larches — simple, accessible, and it turns a winter afternoon into a real mountain outing.
Ski tourers find their joy in the valleys above the plateau: honest climbs, wild atmosphere at the gateway to the Mercantour, conditions to weigh seriously — we talk it over at dinner; winter mountains are prepared, not improvised.
In the evening, everyone meets in the same place: the gear dries, the wood stove does its work, and the table d'hôtes reconciles the legs with the day. Remember winter equipment for the road (French « loi Montagne » in the Alpes-Maritimes): the road is cleared, but we are at 1,300 m.
